Bruce Moody

July 26, 1944 – March 2, 2026

Kinston-Bruce Alton Moody, 81, passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and children on Monday, March 2, 2026. Bruce was born in Lenoir County to the late Alton and Ruby Butts Moody on July 26, 1944. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Moody and Charles Moody.

As owner and operator of a feeder pig farm for about 40 years, Bruce's love for work made farming the perfect occupation. He lived to work and genuinely loved what he did. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved UNC Chapel Hill basketball as well.

A charter member of the Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire Department, he helped lay the foundation for an organization that has continuously been devoted to protecting and serving the community in which he lived. His willingness to step forward and serve was a reflection of his generous heart, as he was always willing to help those in need without hesitation.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Rouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to service. Committal will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Bruce is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-three years, Sharon Jones Moody; children, Tonya Holland Spencer and husband Michael, Tammy Lynne Moody Holloman and husband Stacy, and Al Moody; grandchildren, Garrett Blake Holland and fiancée Alaina, Kolby Leigh Holland, Ashlynn Paige Holloman and fiancé Brendon, and Abby Grace Holloman; sisters, Peggy Shearin and husband Dennis and Catherine Brittain and husband Charlie; sister-in-law, Becky Davis Moody; long-time best friend, Bill Lee; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the 3HC team, especially Nurse Gwen and Aid Quintina.
