SFC Bruce Lee Pitzler
November 23, 1950 – May 22, 2025
Loving husband and father, Bruce passed away unexpectedly on the evening of May 22, at home in Thousand Oaks. He was born in Los Angeles, California, to Alvina and Melvin Pitzler. Pitts, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He served as an exchange student for a year in Brazil and the love of travel and languages were evident throughout his life. He traveled around the world twice during his 30 years of military service. He was an exacting, dedicated Sergeant and talented machinist.
SOLDIER
I was that which others did not want to be. I went where other feared to go and did
what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing. I have seen
the face of terror. I have pained and hoped but most of all, I have lived times others only imagined. I am proud to say that I was a soldier.
He worked in aerospace as a civilian on varied projects such as the Space Shuttle. Bruce had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He often spent his time researching topics of interest or reading books.
Bruce is survived and missed by his loving wife, a sister, a son, three daughters and a daughter-in-law.
A graveside military service will take place at 2 p.m. on June 21, 2025, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo, CA
