Bruce Putman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Apyre National Cremation Services - Port Reading on Jan. 8, 2026.
Bruce Richard Putman was born on June 9, 1949, in Schenectady, New York, to Richard and Arlene Putman, and passed away on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his beloved children and sister. He leaves behind a legacy defined by faith, family, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses was central to his life and shaped the way he approached both people and challenges. He had a deep appreciation for Jehovah's creation, especially the ocean, which brought him peace and quiet reflection.

Bruce took great joy in playing with his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. Known for his mechanical ability, he had a natural talent for taking things apart and putting them back together. He enjoyed problem-solving, working with his tools, and creating puzzles. This gave him satisfaction in understanding how things worked and making them right again.

He is survived by his children, Tabitha Reed and her husband Jeremy; Micah Putman and his wife Jackalynn, and their four children, Esther, Naomi, Phoebe, and Keziah; and Timothy Putman and his wife Josannah. He is also survived by his sister, Tina Jewett and her husband Tom; his niece Ruthanne Kowalski and her husband Brian; his nephew Kyle Jewett; his niece Carrie Ann Roberge and her husband Toni, and their two sons; his sister-in-law, Marylee Putman; and his former sister-in-law, Betsy Sylvester.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Putman; his parents, Richard and Arlene Putman; and his younger brother, Kenneth Putman.

Bruce will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady care for his family, and unwavering faith. His life reflected his love for Jehovah, his respect for creation, and his thoughtful, problem-solving approach to the world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
