On June 4th of this year, Bruce Wark of Yukon, OK, passed away at his home. Bruce was born on April 8, 1946, in Connecticut to George & Beatrice Wark.
Bruce joined the Air Force right after graduating from East Hampton High School in East Hampton, CT in 1964. He served for over 25 years including 3 tours in Vietnam as a Para Jumper. Their duty was to rescue downed pilots by being lowered in a jungle penetrator to administer first aid if necessary before being sent up to the helicopter - HH43's (Pedro) CH-54 (Jolly Green). They were also lowered into army firefights to give medical aid. Bruce was involved in the 1968 TET offensive. Bruce was awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 2 Bronze Stars for bravery plus many more. He rose to the rank of Command Chief Master Sargeant (E-9) which is the highest rank obtained by an enlisted man. Upon retirement, he went to college to get his degree and worked as a paralegal until his final retirement. It was on his multiple tours in Vietnam that he was exposed to Agent Orange, which led to the cancer that took his life.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father George Wark and his mother Beatrice Stokes. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Wark, who helped him so much by bravely caring for him during his battle with cancer; three children Bruce Jr., Michelle, and Lisa; brother Glenn and wife Flo of Olton, TX; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon on Saturday July 19, 2025, at 1:00 P.M.

So glad you posted Bruce's obituary in the Rivereast News Bulletin located in Glastonbury, Conn. I remember Bruce and Glenn when they were growing up here in Gilead, Conn. I knew their parents as well. Like Bruce, I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where I attained the grade of Sergeant while serving in Thailand. Like Bruce, I was exposed to Agent Orange, and today have a host of related maladies, including skin cancer. Currently, I am the Commander of Connecticut's Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #17. I'd love to hear from Glenn or Beverly. My e-mail address is mayor-of-gilead @ sbcglobal.net and yes, I was our town's mayor, which we call First Selectman here in New England.

I will never forget the amazing childhood you gave me. I wish we had been closer when I got older, but I will forever remember the amazing childhood you gave me. My children do know who you were, and your legacy lives through them. I hope every day I can make you proud, dad. I love you, and wish I had been given one last chance to see you. I loved you so much my whole life, and I will miss you for the rest of my life

Dad, I miss you every day; you will always be in my heart. I am so glad I was able to visit with you over Memorial Day weekend. I am forever thankful that you gave me life and were instrumental in making me the man I am. While I am sad I can no longer pick up the phone and call you, or visit you, I celebrate your new eternal life with God. I love you Dad!
