NEW SALEM- Bruce Ernest Wetherby passed away September 21, 2025 at 85 years young.

He was born in Montague, MA, March 3, 1940 to Louie and Viola Wetherby. He lived in Orange for 6 months then moved to the "Farm" in New Salem, MA with two sisters and a brother. The Farm was previously his grandparents who had been displaced by the development of the Quabbin Reservoir.

He went to New Salem schools and graduated from New Salem Academy and was named KING for the Winter Social yearly event and voted for by the high school students!

Then, he went into the Air Force. He was stationed in Sumter, S.C. when he met Angelina Atkinson. They married after he was out of the AF. He was a proud veteran.

He worked for Campbell's Soup Factory there in Sumter, S.C.

After returning to New Salem, he helped run the family Dairy business. He also worked cutting trees and lumber to sell to customers for firewood. He helped turning maple trees sap into Maple Syrup to sell.

The radio in the kitchen was always on especially for the Boston Red Sox games!!

He took such good care of his Mom in her later years on the Farm in New Salem so she could stay at her home.

He leaves his two children: Vickie Wetherby Anglin and Gregory Wetherby of Sumter, S.C. Also, his sister, Barbara Owen Jacopetti of Ponte Vedra, FL and sister, Lin Wetherby of Vieques, P.R. and his Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Preceeding him was his Great Grandparents and Grandparents. His Dad and Mom of New Salem; sister, Verna Whittier Hardaker of Northfield; brother, Douglas Wetherby of New Salem.

He will be interned in South Cemetery in Orange, MA. He wished no service or memorial.
