Bruce E. Wicklund passed away on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 79. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at Oscar Lake Lutheran Church in Farwell, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Bruce E. Wicklund was born on Feb. 22, 1946, to Ernest Wicklund and Edna Bergquist Wicklund in the house where he spent the majority of his life. He enjoyed a fun childhood playing with and irritating his younger sister “Ditto”. There were many stories of the two of them fishing on Oscar, Freeborn, and Blackwell lakes. He attended Country School at District 29 then transferred to Kensington High School and graduated in 1964. He graduated from Alex Tech for drafting.

Bruce was drafted into the Army in Dec. of 1965 and served until Dec. of 1967. During those 2 years, he spent some time at West Point in New York and the Dominican Republic; which was not the beautiful vacation spot it is now. Even though he professed to hate his time in the military, he certainly told lots of stories about all the fun he had, especially with two friends he kept in touch with through today.

Bruce married Shirley Blomer in May of 1976 and the couple would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary in May. They shared a beautiful life raising Clint, Grandchildren and a couple pigs. They might have gone to the Casino a couple times too...He worked as a farmer and carpenter mainly throughout his life with a few years spent building airplane wings at Bellanca in Alexandria and doing some land surveying.

Bruce’s fondest memories were of Saturday nights at the K-town bar dancing with friends, and weekend get togethers with family. He often expressed his regret that he missed out on the musical talent so prolific in his family.

He was especially proud of their farm that had been in his family for 160 years. He loved farming, deer hunting and fishing there. He was very much a walker until he couldn’t anymore. He would walk down County Road 96 every day, unless it was raining, for many years. He replaced walking with a John Deere Gator which became a fixture on the farm and County Road 96. He loved his 2-cylinder John Deere Tractors and recently had purchased a 1930 Ford Model A car.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Ferdinand; brother, James and his wife, Barbara; sister, Joyce and her husband, Harry; brother, Earl and his wife Shirley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Clint, and daughter-in-law, Stacy, and their 3 children: Willa, Sage and Bode. Other survivors include his sister, Darlene (Howard) Hennen, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
