I worked for Bruton in his first car dealership, Frontier Ford in Rockford, Illinois until he sold it. He was a great man to work for.

To say they "don´t make them like that anymore" doesn´t begin to say enough. He was one of those that truly made the world go round... and he had fun doing it. It was a privilege and honor to be around him and to say I knew him. He will be missed by many. My sincere condolences.

So very saddened to learn of Burton´s passing. I first met him at a shareholder meetings of Speedway Motor Sports and subsequently at Sonic Automotive shareholder meetings. His wisdom and foresight was always noteworthy. Sympathies to Marcus, Scott, David and the family. Rest In Peace my friend.

A wonderful man and a true legend. He gave me my opportunity with Sonic. I enjoyed just sitting with him and talking in the Cafe at the Ford dealership... just taking in everything he said. As much as he was larger than life, he made me feel important and relevant. I will never forget this true icon, and wonderful human being... God Bless...
