Bryan Donald Lowe, 48, of Tallahassee passed away on August 19, 2023, at home after a lengthy battle with dermatomyositis.
Born on May 24, 1975, in Prince George's County, Maryland, and Bryan graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in
Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Furthering his education, he earned a degree in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of West Florida where he also played college soccer. His career began with service to the Florida Division of Emergency Management as Regional Coordinator for 18 years. Subsequently, he held the position of Subject Matter Expert in Disaster Recovery at TetraTech for the past 6 years. Bryan was the longest tenured Regional Coordinator and was instrumental in developing the Florida Emergency Management Academies, which earned him the Governor's Commendation and Distinguished Service Award in 2011. Additionally, Bryan was deployed for major natural disasters including Hurricanes Katrina, Ivan, the 2004-05 hurricane season, Deep Water Horizon, 911, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Bryan was married to Amy, the love of his life, for 23 years. Their love story began in 1993 at UWF where they were actively involved in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Kappa Alpha Order. Amy was Bryan's Kappa Alpha Rose and partner for life. Bryan was giving and generous and never met a stranger. With his great sense of humor, he was a dynamic storyteller and public speaker. Bryan was an avid sportsman and spent countless hours hunting, fishing and golfing. He was also a devoted fan of Florida State sports. He was a proud Brother in Kappa Alpha Order, from which he enjoyed many life-long friendships.
In addition to his wife, Bryan is survived by his sister Heather and her husband Scott; his sister Averil and her husband John; his cousin Margaret; his nieces Mae, Ashlyn, Paige, Maddie and Juliette; and his nephew Aiden. Bryan was preceded in death by his Mother, Malinda Gard and Father, Donald Wayne. Bryan had a special relationship with his physician Dr. Thomas Austin Zorn, and the family wishes to thank him for his care and compassion.
A celebration of life for Bryan will be held in the Carriage House at Goodwood Museum and Gardens on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 2;00pm, located at 1600 Miccosukee Road,
Tallahassee, Florida 32308. Bryan expressed his wish that friends and family enjoy a light-hearted celebration of his life and encouraged everyone to dress in their favorite Hawaiian shirt, his signature look.
In 2018, Bryan and Amy established the Mary Kathryn Young Dancer Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Ballet Arts Conservatory of Tallahassee. The fund is named in honor of Amy's mother with the mission of furthering their collective vision that "Ballet Changes Lives". The family invites those who wish to express their condolences to make a charitable donation to the Scholarship Fund at 2028 North Point Boulevard,
