Bryan J. Setzer

Master Sergeant Bryan J. Setzer, United States Air Force, Retired, age 54, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday afternoon. Born March 4, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama, Bryan was the beloved son of Robert Shelton Setzer and Nancy Jean King Setzer.

MSGT Setzer was deeply proud of his distinguished military career. He found great joy in flying planes and exploring new countries during his service. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued serving others as a private investigator and in various security roles. Bryan was passionate about building and repairing firearms and took exceptional pride in maintaining his car with meticulous care.

Known for his compassion, he consistently put the needs of others before his own, always ready to help friends and family navigate life's challenges. He enjoyed attending rock concerts and cherished time with loved ones. A devoted son, he was lovingly known as a "mama's boy" and served as the steadfast rock of his family, offering wise advice and always being approachable.

MSGT Setzer is survived by his wife, Dawn Setzer; two sons, Anthony Perea (Felicia) of Lexington and Andrew Setzer of Goose Creek; his father, Robert S. Setzer of Myrtle Beach; his brother, Mike Setzer (Julie) of Asheville, NC; three grandchildren, Stella, Wallace, and Reagen; nieces and nephew, Courtney, Nolan, and Macy; and his beloved dog, Maddie. He was preceded in death by his mother.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Military honors will be rendered at 1:00 PM.
