Bryan Sponaugle Jr.

Bryan "Butch" Sponaugle, Jr., 74, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life at the WV Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins, Tuesday, November 25, 2025. He had been in declining health.
Butch was born Monday, January 8, 1951, at Parsons, a son of the late Bryan Sponaugle, Sr., and Armittie Amanda Collett Mason Sponaugle. On March 26, 1977, in Parsons, he married Dottie Lou Ends Sponaugle, who survives. They had celebrated forty-eight years of marriage.
Left to cherish Butch's memory besides his wife is a son, Bryan Wayne Sponaugle of Fairmont, a granddaughter, Eva Grace Sponaugle, three sisters, Naomi Sponaugle Lambert, of Mabie, Wilda Sponaugle of Canton, OH and Lulabell Sponaugle Hardy of Hambleton, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Butch in death is six brothers, Burl Mason, Allen "Hambone" Mason, Cleon Sponaugle, Harold Sponaugle, Lewis Sponaugle and Eugene "Jim" Sponaugle, two sisters, Martha Mason Whetzel and Lucy Sponaugle Tingler.
Butch graduated Parsons High School with the Class of 1970. He had worked for Blackwater Falls State Park for thirteen years, U.S. Forest Service for seven years and various other jobs.
Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wildlife and TV westerns. He attended the St. George Church of God. Bryan loved his granddaughter very much.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain State Memorial Gardens on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 12 PM.
