Bryce Scales Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.M. Goodson Funeral Homes and Crematory - Talladega on Oct. 25, 2025.
Baby Bryce Scales, born on July 24, 2025, brought immeasurable joy to his parents, Ja'Tavious Scales and OnikaMcKinney. In his short time with us, Baby Bryce touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Baby Bryce was a true fighter who fought fiercely to the end, even as his life was being dedicated to Christ by Chaplin Aleesa Naish prior to the angels making their appearance, Baby Bryce fought. Though he was small in size, he was strong in will and did not like to be disturbed and you could not touch his feet without feedback.
Baby Bryce life came to an early end Monday, October 20, 2025 while in the care of Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by his beloved family. Baby Bryce passing leaves his family and loved ones grieving the loss of a precious life that held so much promise. Once he embraced heaven's angels, he was welcomed home by his beloved family who had gone on before him including Rogers Burton, Mary Ann Borden, George Cameron, Mickey Dye, William and Nora Jean Huguley, Gertrude and Rev. Tommy Lee Jones, Ben McKinney, Jr., Judy Williams, and Joseph Carr, Jr.
Baby Bryce will be forever remembered by his beloved parents, Ja'Tavious Scales and Onika McKinney; brother, Jrue Scales; sisters, Naomi McKinney, Janelle Scales, and Kaylani Weatherly; grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great grandparents LaTonya Huguley, Ben (Beverly) McKinney, Jr., Unlander (Rodney) Borden, James (Nicole) Scales, Cheryl (Woodrow) English, Frederick Huguley, Betty Burton, Alberta Thomas, Marilyn Cameron, and Joyce Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and dear family friends.
While Baby Bryce's time with us was brief, his impact on our lives cannot be overstated. His innocent presence filled our hearts with love and joy. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him and hold Baby Bryce close in our thoughts and prayers.
As we gather to remember Baby Bryce, let us find consolation in one another's comfort and support. May his spirit live on in our hearts, and may his memory serve as a reminder of the pricelessness of each life, no matter how brief.
Forever loved, cherished, and deeply missed, Baby Bryce Scales always be in our hearts. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of heaven's angels.
