Budd Lynch was the VOICE of Hockey in my youth. He brought the games to us on the radio and made us feel that we were right in the Olympia with the boys. He was a broadcasting legend and us "baby Boomers" remember him for more than the voice on the PA. Rest in Peace Budd.

To the Schmizzi family:

I am so sorry for your loss and deepest sympathies go out to you. I am in awe after reading about Mr. Lynch. I had no idea! Your father/grandfather would have been someone I would have loved to sit and listened to for hours on end. A very interesting man and a great loss.

Thinking of you all with love and prayers,

Vicki Horn

Dear Lynch Family,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Budd and my father, Frank Gallagher, worked together during the Red Wings' 50s championship years.

I can remember your voice from age 4 in 61' on radio announcing the games. We loved you so much we wouldn't let you retire for we couldn't fathom hockey without you.

You were our tradition and we will always cherish your memory of kindness & class. Your voice will live on in all of our hearts.

“Last Minute To Play In This Period”.

From Red Wings to Angel Wings, we will all miss you Budd.

With Love,

An honorable man with a gracious wit, who was always ready
to meet at Toppers ( now Chelies ) for a ginger ale.
Many a great night at Olympia and the Joe.

The Detroit Red Wings have truly lost an "icon" in the field of hockey. Budd was an institution and loved by all who knew him or heard his voice. Truly a gentleman. Budd, there is a place for you in Hockey Heaven, and may God be at your side while you are "calling the plays."

To the Lynch Family...I worked with Budd from 1971 to 1984 at Olympia and JLA and considered him a friend. I had lunch with him in May at The Roma Cafe with many of the "old time" employees and always enjoyed our meetings. He will be missed beyond words. God Bless him and all of you.

If Mel Torme was called the "Velvet Fog" of the singing world. Than Budd was the "Velvet Fog" of the broadcasting world. I'm really going to miss hearing him speak. My condolences to his family.

I had the great honor of meeting Mr. Lynch 14 years ago at the Little Caesars Christmas party at Joe Louis Arena. My son Austin, then an infant, and I were taking a break from the festivities and he came over to where we were sitting, introduced himself, and spoke with me for a few minutes. He was a true gentleman, and will be deeply missed by all Red Wings fans.

Very saddened to hear of Bud Lynch's passing. He was a good friend of my dad (Jimmie Skinner)& our family always enjoyed meeting & chatting with him at many Detroit games. He was such a cordial & gracious person with a terrific sense of humor. Our family remembers him fondly & our sincere condolences to his daughters. It is so very difficult to come to terms with a parent's passing no matter what age. Celebrate his wonderful life & career!
