Buford Ray Berry

Buford Ray Berry of Byars, Oklahoma was born April 5, 1934 in 7 Shooter, Oklahoma to Buford Rumsey Berry and Katie Mae (Edwards) Berry. He passed away on December 26, 2025 in Sunset Estates Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years 8 months and 21 days. He grew up in the Pauls Valley area and attended school there. He met the love of his life Lois Lavern Gilley and they were married on July 24, 1952 in Gainesville, Texas. He worked in the Oil Field retired from Arco, Alaska and moved back to Bakersfield, California, for a time, then moved to Byars in 2002. He loved to travel in his motor home with all his buddies. He collected old vintage cars and loved showing them off in parades and car shows. They were faithful members of the Byars Pentecostal church.

Preceded by ; his parents, three brothers; Joe Gail , Elmer Lee and Jerry Dan Berry.

Daughter; Vickie Rae Bayless, Granddaughter; Shaleen Pagsuberon, Grandson; Joshua Gene Pearce, and two sons in law; Virgil Neal Bayless, and Larry Wayne Thompson.

Survived by; his wife Lois Berry of the home in Byars.

2 daughters; Debra Bayless and Cindy Thompson both of Byars.

Sister; Mary Ann Rogers of Byars.

7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers; Gary Berry, Bradley Berry, Mike Rogers, Mark Rogers, Braden Prewitt, and Dwight McCullar.

Honorary Pallbearer; Brandon Rogers.

Visitation; will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday January 1, 2026 in DeArman/Pickard Chapel Stratford, Oklahoma.

Services; will be 2:00 PM Friday January 2, 2026 in the Byars Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Officiating; Rev. Frank Trent. Interment will follow in Byars Cemetery.
