Burl Simmons Obituary
Burl Dean Simmons, age 83, of Springdale, AR, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Burl was born September 19, 1941 in Nail, Arkansas, the son of the late Lloyd Simmons and Merinda (Neal) Simmons. On April 11, 1966 in Jasper AR, he married the love of his life, Lavada Barnard.
Burl worked as an in the maintenance department for Tyson Foods for many years, He loved spending time with his family, working in his garden and making things with his woodworking skills. He was always tinkering with some woodworking project.
Burl is survived by his daughter, Melissa Simmons; 3 sisters, Shirley Patrick, Ruby Herendez, and Charlene Tschirhart; and many friends.
Burl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lavada; a brother, Floyd Wyman Simmons; and 2 sisters, Fern Carney and Eudola Carney.
Friends may visit with the family at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 5 – 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
