?Butch Alumbaugh, age 78, of Searcy, Ark., went to his heavenly home Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, after being a resident of Blossom VA facility in Newport, Ark. Butch, (which was his real name) was born July 15, 1947, in Newport into a large family of 10 siblings whose names all started with the letter "B"! They were a big, happy, loving family. He was always proud of his family and often quoted, "He was the 7th son born in the 7th month and he was the special one"!
After graduating McCrory High School, Butch entered the United States Air Force and became a member of the 12 Tactical Air Squadron, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. On Jan. 13,1968 Butch was on a 30 day leave to come home and marry his high school sweetheart, Mary Kyle Alumbaugh. They were married on Jan. 20,1968 and one week later, he received a call from the Little Rock Air Base to immediately report to Osan, Korea.
Butch and Mary were separated for the next 18 months but were married and were blessed with 61 total wonderful years. After serving four years in the service, Butch returned to his hometown of McCrory, Ark., where he farmed rice and soybeans for 26 years. After turning over the farm to his sons, Butch and Mary decided to move to Searcy, Ark., where he established "White County Garden and Landscaping."
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ella Mae Alumbaugh; brothers, Bob, Bill, (McCrory) and Barry Alumbaugh (Quitman). He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; two sons, Everett (Cindy) Alumbaugh, McCrory, Aaron (Katrina) Alumbaugh, McCrory; special son, Mark (Allison) Dennison Searcy; three grandsons, Ty Everett Alumbaugh, Tarzan (Bree) Alumbaugh, Zeke (Katrina) Alumbaugh, (all of McCrory); "three special" grandchildren, Harlow, Diesel, and Denver (Searcy); two great-grandchildren, Berkley and Bennett Alumbaugh, of McCrory; brothers, Ben (Carol) Memphis, Birdell (Susie) Quitman, Burl "Frog" (Sharon) McCrory; sisters, Betty Honey (Jerry), Bonnie Betts (Norman) Newport, Brenda (Charles) Coley McCrory; three sister-in-law's, Lois Alumbaugh, (McCrory), Joyce Alumbaugh, (Searcy), Thelma Alumbaugh, (Olive Branch, Miss.); also, many wonderful nieces and nephews. Butch was known to many many children as PaPa!
Butch's world revolved around his family! His smile, his mischievous "smirk" was well known by family and friends. Butch went through some tough times with his health recently, but Butch often told Mary he asked God to "just let him go to sleep and wake up in heaven"! God blessed him and granted his wish Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025. You were truly the best husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, love you Papa!
