Byrdit Conroll Morris was born on April 10, 1933, in Robeline, Louisiana. He dedicated his life to serving his family, his community, and the nation. Byrdit peacefully departed this world on August 18, 2025, at the St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Throughout his career, Byrdit made significant contributions as a supervisor at US Steel in Gary, Indiana. His leadership and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and those he supervised. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were evident throughout his life, reflecting the values instilled in him during his upbringing.
His time in service to his country as a member of the Army of the United States from April 30, 1953, to April 29, 1955, further exemplified his dedication to duty and service. Byrdit carried the lessons learned during his military service into his civilian life, influencing those around him positively.
Byrdit was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dora Lee Standifer Morris, who stood by his side through life's many seasons. He leaves behind two sons, Conroll Morris and his wife ,BeBe, and Sean Morris and his wife, Rebecca. Byrdit three grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew and McKenzie Morris, also cherished his two sisters, Joyce Chandler and Mae Helen Sowell, who contributed to the love and support that surrounded him.
Byrdit was preceded in death by his father, D.C. Morris, and his mother, Martha Hannah Wills Morris. He was also preceded by four brothers: Earl Morris, Bernard Morris, Clarence Morris, and Claude Morris, along with one sister, Jean Shumate. Their memories will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved Byrdit.
In celebration of his life, friends and family are invited to join for a viewing on August 30, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both held at New Chapel CME, located at 1799 MS-25 in Fulton, Mississippi.
Byrdit Conroll Morris leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering strength. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
