Byron Thomas Akers, Jr., 69 of Midland, GA. passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his home under hospice care with his loving family by his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00PM, Friday, August 22, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Byron was born July 26, 1956 to Mrs. Christiane Streil Akers and the late Byron Thomas Akers, Sr. in Ft. Lee, VA. Byron was a very loving husband, father, son and brother to his entire family. He was a registered nurse and spent his last career as an orthopedic representative with Biomet before becoming ill with Parkinson’s disease. He was a Captain in the Air Force Reserves. When not working he was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed skeet shooting. He attended Columbus High School where he played football and after graduating high school, he attended Columbus State University and graduated with an RN degree. He also attended Kaplan University and received a degree as a legal nurse consultant. He was a very good Christian man and enjoyed his last month’s listening to the Bible and worship songs. He will be greatly missed by all of us but especially his fur baby Sallie.
Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife Tammy Page Akers of Midland, GA. daughters: Heather Kreider (Chris) of Houston, TX and Kristen Akers of Midland, GA, sister: Virginia Morgan (Keath) of Macon, GA, brother: Jeff Akers (Maureen) and Mike Akers (Ginger) both of Midland, GA. Christopher Akers of Columbus, GA. granddaughter: Livia Grace Keider also of Houston, TX. several Nieces and Nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
