Byron Dillard Obituary

Byron M. Dillard

August 16, 1933 - December 23, 2025

Byron McPherson Dillard, age 92, entered the presence of his Savior on December 23, 2025 at Heritage Green Assisted Living in Lynchburg, VA, where he had resided for the past two years and was lovingly cared for by a devoted team of caregivers.

Byron was born on August 16, 1933, in Thomasville, GA. He was the fifth of seven lively, intelligent, and mischievous children who deeply admired and loved one another throughout their long lives.

Byron is survived by his three children, Byron Dillard Jr. (Karen) of Roanoke, VA, Phyllis Rinehart (Larry) of Gahanna, OH, and Rebecca Migner (Peter) of DeLand, FL; nine grandchildren, Shelby, Ben, Chelsea, Rayna, Levi, Chaney, Tansy, Newman, and Brigette; and seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Allison, Olivia, Larkin, Libby, Jesse, and Lainey. He is also survived by many well-loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laurie Alma Freeney Dillard; his parents; all of his siblings; and an infant son who passed away in 1958. He looked forward with joy to being reunited with them all in heaven.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Compassion Church of the Nazarene, 1737 Wards Ferry Road, Lynchburg, VA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nazarene Missions Cambodia Medical Aid Fund, organized by his friend and missionary, Shannon Smith.

Contributions may be given at the service, online, or by mailing a check to The Rock Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 401 Dixie Airport Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
