Byron Erickson

The graveside service for Byron Erickson of Clarissa will be held at noon on Saturday, May 16, at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Eagle Bend. A lunch and time for reminiscing will follow at the Eagle Bend Vets Club.

Byron, 75, passed away, on January 9, 2026, at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples,

Byron was born to Clarence and Marcella (Hanel) Erickson on September 9, 1950, in Hettinger, ND. He spent his childhood in Bowman, ND and Victor, MT. His family moved to Eagle Bend where Byron graduated with the Class of 1968. He became a self-employed roofer and worked alongside his brother, Gerald and close friend, Kermit Eckel. At the age of 48, Byron survived a brain aneurysm and a stroke in 2018, leaving him unable to do his work and do what he enjoyed…driving to the casino! Over the years he took pride in his job, along with mowing and maintaining his yard. Most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren. By June of 2021, Byron needed to enter the Todd County Care Center in Clarissa.

Preceding Byron in death were his dad, Clarence; brother, Gerald and sister, Carla Rentz.

Surviving Byron are his mother, Marcella of Rapid City, SD; children, Nancy (Tom) Roschen of Lake City, Jennifer Erickson of Chicago, IL and Daniel (Molly) Erickson of Sauk Center; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Debbie Erickson of Delano; along with the mother of their children and close friend, Barb Erickson.
