Ed Gray of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more, whose lives were touched by him.
He was born in Indianapolis on April 29th, 1944, to parents George Myron and Anna Josephine (Kyser) Gray.
After graduating from Arsenal Technical high school, Ed entered the electrical field and eventually established his own company, E.G. Electric, Inc. in 1981.
He loved his work, his employees and contractors. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. If anybody asked how he was, he would always say “Super!” even if he was having a bad day.
He married the love of his life, Frances (Lafferty) Gray on April 15th, 1967. They were married for 58 years.
The greatest joys in his life were his children, Richard Scott Gray and Amy Denise Gray, and his granddaughters Layla Barham (husband Adham Zeyadah) and Ranya Barham. Many good times were had and wonderful memories made.
Upon retirement, Ed discovered a God-given talent he never knew he had, woodworking. He became a professional woodcarver, winning many ribbons at the State Fair and other wood shows. He also made many dear friends who shared his love of carving.
He is survived by his wife Fran Gray; two children Richard Gray and Amy Gray; two grandchildren Layla Barham (Adham Zeyadah) Ranya Barham; sisters Patricia Colvin and Margaret Maynard; sister-in-law Catherine Simmerman; and many nieces and nephews (including great, and great-great!).
Ed is preceded in death by his parents George and Josephine Gray and brothers-in-law William Maynard and James Colvin.
Visitation for Ed will be Thursday December 4th, from 10-11:30am, at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church (11441 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038). His funeral mass will begin at 11:30am. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
