C. Richard MacEachern, Sr., age 82, of Beacon Falls, the beloved husband of Mary McLachlan MacEachern, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on May 22, 1929, son of the late Clarence Elmer and Vesta MacNaughton MacEachern. Dick graduated from Norwalk High School and served two years in the United States Army from September 1950 until June 1952. He was a lifelong member of Carpenter's Local 210, retiring as Construction Superintendent at Ardmare Construction Co. of Bridgeport. When living in Norwalk, Dick enjoyed fishing in his boat on Long Island Sound and also many years hunting and fishing in the Beacon Falls area with his beloved English Setter, Rex, as well as many years enjoying the companionship of his dear dog, Valentine, a Husky-Shepherd mix. He was a member of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church. Dick will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his three loving children, Wendy M. Fratino and her husband Sal of Wilton, Scott MacEachern and his wife Sharon of Peru, MA and C. Richard MacEachern, Jr. of West Haven, four cherished grandchildren Adam and Christopher Fratino and Kelsey and Valya MacEachern, as well as her sister June M. Gilbertie and her husband Joseph of Norwalk, two nephews and several cousins. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Richard's life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with the Rev. Doreen Horstman, officiating. Interment, with full military honors accorded will follow at Union Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 am until the start of the service at 11:00 am. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to VNA Healthcare, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury, CT 06708-1402.
