Calamity Jane Bragg Mikell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on Wednesday, January 22, 1958, Calamity was a cherished resident of Pembroke, Georgia, where she made a lasting impact on her community.
A dedicated public servant, Calamity served as the Clerk of State Court for Bryan County for 18 years, working diligently to uphold the standards of justice and administration. Prior to this role, she spent 28 years as a secretary for Judge Jack Carney, where her professionalism and attention to detail were appreciated by all who knew her.
Calamity's vibrant spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was an active member of the Bryan County Cure (Catie's Gathering), an organization close to her heart, and she adored spending time in the great outdoors. Calamity enjoyed crabbing, boating, and camping, and she shared many of these adventures with her family and her cherished group, the Lady Cruisers and was a member of the Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Her greatest joy came from her family, and she treasured moments spent with them, particularly her grandchildren, Lansing and Riley, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Calamity is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Spencer Mikell, and her loving son, Tyler Mikell, alongside his wife Bridgette of Hoboken, GA. She leaves behind a sister, Janice Bragg of Pembroke, two brothers, Dave Bragg (Linda) of Ellabell and Glennis Williams of Augusta, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who will miss her deeply.
Calamity was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Thomas Bragg and Katie Hill Bragg, as well as her sister, Polly Alberta Bragg Williams, and brothers, Ricky Hires and Daniel Hill Bragg, Sr.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home, allowing friends and family to pay their respects and celebrate her life.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Mike Newman and Pastor Keith Hamilton will officiate the ceremony.
Calamity will be laid to rest at Northside Cemetery.
