A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, Callie Mae Terry, 77, of Decatur, transitioned from earth to glory on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Born in Brownsville, TN, Callie was the daughter of the late Herman and Rosie (Morris) Whitelaw. She was a high school graduate from Carver High School in Brownsville, TN.
She married the love of her life Leroy Terry on October 29, 1983.
Callie moved to Decatur at an early age. She worked for GE until the doors closed, and from there she worked at Lehn & FInk until they closed. From there she worked at Ring Can. until she retired. Coming out of retirement she was employed at Robertson Charter School as a grandma caring for children until she went home to glory.
She professed her life to Christ at an early age at Northside Missionary Baptist Church. She continued her walk of faith attending Truth Pentecostal and Community Church of God until her final days.
Callie loved shopping, decorating, fishing, and sewing. She loved spending time with her family and creating lasting memories that will be forever cherished.
Callie leaves to mourn her loving husband Leroy Terry of Decatur, IL; sons, James E. (Geraldine) Mabon Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Jesse L. (Gwen) Mabon of West Helena, AR; daughter, Melody R. (John) Ellis of Decatur, IL; sisters, Jean Mabon of Decatur, IL, Delois Mann of Brownsville, TN, Brenda McCuller of Brownsville, TN; brother, Terry Whitelaw of Hombolt, TN; grandchildren, Jamicya (Jacoby) Cunningham, Iesha (Carlos) Brown, Querita Mabon, LaTerricka Farris, Whitely Mabon, Darius Mabon, Lavonous (Angel) Byars, Javonis Mabon, Travonis Mabon, Raymonce Thomas, Rashad Thomas; 25 great grandchildren, special niece, Sonya Schoffner, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brother in law, cousins, and friends.
Callie was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, daughter, Barbara A. Bunch, sisters, Martha A (Johnson) Jelks, Linda Whitelaw, brothers, Willie Lee Morris, Theodore Whitelaw, Hubert Whitelaw, and one niece, Charmaine Johnson-Miles.
