Calvin "Chris" C. Daoust, age 76, of Ashland, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN. Chris was born on June 2, 1948, in Ashland, the son of Julian H. and Thelma J. (Twaddell) Daoust.
Chris was a proud Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Army. After returning from Vietnam, he worked for the Ashland County Sheriff's Department for 29 years, retiring as a jail administrator. He was united in marriage to Mary Lee Binkowski on June 9, 1973, in Ashland, WI. He was a passionate woodworker, whose many memorable creations are cherished by his friends and family. An avid fisherman, he delighted in chasing after elusive crappies and bluegills. He loved ATVing and would spend countless hours on the trails with numerous ATVing friends. Lastly, he was a loyal fan of the Packers and the Brewers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lee Daoust (Ashland); sons, Jeremy (Ashland), Matthew (Indianapolis), and Scott (Ashland); brother, Michael (Kenosha); sisters-in-law, Patricia Daoust (Manitowoc) and Beatrice Daoust (Ashland); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Daniel and David, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Daoust.
A memorial service for Chris will take place Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland.
A gathering for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home in Ashland, and continue until the hour of service.
Military Honors under the auspices of the United Chequamegon Area Veterans will immediately follow the service at the Funeral Home.
Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery.
