Canzada Regina Hughes, affectionately known as Candy, was born on November 25, 1974, in Carrollton, Georgia, to Katie Billie Jean Hughes and Calvin Hughes Sr. She passed away peacefully from natural causes on July 6, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio.
Candy was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, embodying the true essence of friendship. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Canzada was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Katie Billie Jean Hughes; her father, Calvin Hughes Sr.; her brother, Calvin Hughes Jr.; and her aunt, Elizabeth Caldwell. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her daughter, Keionnaa Hughes; her brothers, Jeffery Hughes and Michael Clan; her bonus brother, Reginald Taylor; her bonus sister, Frances Dorsey; and her partner in life, Jason McCloud. Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Calvin Hughes II; her nieces, Dira and Kyasi Harris; and a host of heart-connected cousins and other loved ones, including Terrice Collins and her best friend, Toshia.
