Captola Christine (Sanders) Powers

Dee Powers, of Ashton, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 20th, 2024.
Dee was born on March 7th, 1935, in Manila, Arkansas to Wesley and Mattie Maxine (Mitchell) Sanders. She met the love of her life, John R. (Bob) Powers in Rockford, IL and they married on August 4th, 1959. Dee was one of the most loving souls you could ever meet and had the kindest heart, loved music, flowers, gardening, cooking for family and friends. Dee's southern hospitality and smile were legendary – every visitor was greeted with a hot cup of coffee, a fresh glass of sweet tea or a hot meal, symbolizing her open heart and welcoming nature. Her family was her world, and she was their universe.
Survivors include her loving sons Steve Powers and Kevin (Laura) Powers; daughters Karen Cole, Tam (Randy) Klavenga and Christy (Rob) Haenitsch. Brother, Pete (Faye) Sanders, West Plains, MO. Sister, Ruthie (Joe) Ethridge, Trenton TN.
Her incredible grandchildren; Stacy (Walton Reynolds II) Marsh, Jason Powers, Valarie (James) Pittman, Christopher (Monica) Carter, Felicia Carter, Aaron (Mellisa) Powers, Daniel Powers, Carrie Powers, Brandon Powers, Cody (Sarah) Haenitsch, Jamie Powers, Jesse Haenitsch, Paige Powers, Cheyenne Haenitsch, Megan Powers, Hannah Powers, and Lucas Powers.
Twenty-nine amazing and loving great-grandchildren. Three beautiful great great- grandchildren and one on the way.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Wes and Maxine Sanders. Husband: Bob Powers. Sons, Mark Powers, and Sean Powers. Sisters, Hazel Peterson and Bobbie Jo Prince. Brothers, Chucky David Sanders, Tommy Sanders and Earl Sanders. Sister in-law, Betty Sanders. Daughter in-law, Corinne Powers.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 704 N. 6th St. Rochelle, IL 61068. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with a graveside service to follow out to Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
