Carey Ann Brown, age 76, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. In accordance with her wishes no services are scheduled at this time.
Carey is survived by her children, Kate (Bob) West, Susannah (John) Velke, and Abby (Matt) Holzwarth; grandchildren, Jack and Lauren West, Kyleigh, Jackson, and Ainsley Adkins, and Emmett, Elliott, and Maggie Holzwarth; sister, Stephanie (John Fulbright) Frey; and brother, Rob Frey.
Carey was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Pat Frey.
Carey was a lifelong learner and advocate of the arts and humanities who dedicated her life to the education of others, her family, and her community. Her enduring legacy is reflected in her children, grandchildren, and the many students she taught.
