Carl Buckley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Dixie Highway on Dec. 18, 2025.
Carl Allen Buckley, Jr. ("Buck"), a proud American Veteran, devoted husband, and lifelong Kentuckian, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. He was 82.

Buck lived a life marked by resilience, discipline, and service. A retired full-service United States military veteran, he served in the U.S. Army where he gained the skills and discipline that shaped much of his life.

As a previous member of Shively Baptist Church, Buck willingly volunteered his time and abilities. Drawing on his engineering background, he worked alongside other dedicated members to help repair and maintain the church building wherever there was a need. He also served faithfully on the church kitchen staff for many years, ensuring the congregation could gather and share a warm meal together every Wednesday night.

Buck was social, spirited, and unmistakably a Kentuckian. He loved good bourbon, good company, and any moment that called for dancing. Even in the nursing home, he kept that spark alive-encouraging staff to dance with him and occasionally "borrowing" their radio so he could listen to music the way he liked it.

Like the rest of the Buckley family, Buck had a deep love for the river and boating. Time on the water brought him joy and connection, and it remained one of the places where he felt most at home.

Buck was deeply dedicated to his wife, Young Buckley, the love of his life. He cared for her tenderly through her own battle with cancer, and the family takes comfort in believing they are reunited in heaven. He was fortunate once again, to find companionship and is survived by his wife Wefeng.

The father of 5 children, he is survived by Laura (Brian), Lisa (Gary), Joseph (Doreasha), Shannon, and stepson Bill Alsup (Vera) along with 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor Buck's life will be held at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. There will be a memorial visitation prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.

Buck will be remembered for his personality, his humor, his loyalty, and the unique way he moved through the world-always with a story, a smile, and his own unmistakable style.
