Carl Henry Cate, 78, of Cleveland, TN passed away on October 1, 2024. He was born in Hamilton County, but has lived in Bradley County for the majority of his life. He is the son of the late Ralph and Beatrice Redd Cate.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his "Little Buddy" Reba. When he wasn't enjoying their time together, he was doing his other favorite pastimes: hunting and fishing. Carl loved sharing his hunting and fishing stories with everyone he met.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his twin brother Charlie Cate; brother Donnie Ray Cate; half-sister Virginia (Vergie) Cate Salvage; father and mother-in-law Clyde and Lola Buckner; brothers-in-law Charles Buckner, Jack Buckner, David Buckner, Edward (Jr.) Buckner, William Redd and Douglas McClure.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Reba Buckner Cate; brothers Larry Wayne (Kathy) Cate, Bill (Joyce) Cate, Ronnie Eugene (Cora) Cate, and Jerry Cate; sisters Betty Jo Bowman and Mary Louise Anderson; brother and sister in law: Marvin and Ethel Slaughter; sisters in law Hazel Redd, Charlotte McClure, May Buckner, and Margaret Buckner. In addition to these, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Carl's family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, October 6th at the Ridge Chapel of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service. A celebration of life will be held at 4pm with burial to follow at Earl's Cemetery.
