Carl Spurgeon Clinton, age 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born at the family home in Adell, Texas on August 29, 1940, Carl was the second of three sons to Anson and Clota (Murphree) Clinton, and grew up with a strong foundation of faith and family that would shape the rest of his life. Carl lived with a heart devoted to the Lord, and his life was marked by service, joy, and love. Through his preaching, singing, and laughter, Carl shared the joy of Christ and he will be remembered as a faithful pastor, devoted family man, and a friend to all who knew him.
Carl joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Carl worked as a machinist at General Dynamics and Bell Helicopter. Called to preach in 1970, Carl focused on religious studies, completing a Doctor of Bible Theology degree in 1983 through International Bible Institute & Seminary. Carl, with the help of his faithful wife, served as a Pastor at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Azle, Emmanuel Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, and several others. Even in retirement, Carl’s devotion to spreading the word of God continued, as he spent countless hours recording and sharing his thoughts and perceptions of heaven and an eternal life worshipping God.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Melba Clinton; daughter, Connie Ferris and husband, Sam; son, Jimmy Clinton and wife, Jo; three grandsons, Rian Clinton and wife, Callahan; Jacob Clinton and wife, Sarah; Micah Ferris and wife, Erin; one granddaughter, Amanda Faubion and husband, Daniel; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Dale Clinton and wife, Marilyn; sister-in-law, Sherry Clinton; Uncle Kenneth Murphree and wife, Nadine; and a multitude of extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.
