Carl Michael Farrell Sr., age 67, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Carl was born September 16, 1956, in Akron, OH.
Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Farrell, Jr. (P.C.) and Dorothea Farrell; brother, Charles Farrell; step-son, George W. Hancock III (Bubba); grandson, Christian Rivers Full and great-grand daughter, Luna Stephens.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Brandi Farrell and Gina Hancock; son, Taylor Farrell; grandchildren, Jordan Crabtree, Kennysan Meeks, McKinley Godfrey, Taylor Green, Kamryn Godfrey, Caroline Geddings, Alaia Farrell and Ames Farrell; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his loving siblings, Alice Farrell Crawley (Lonnie, Sr.), Joe Farrell (Darcy) and Sam Farrell (Vicki); many special nieces and nephews and “Nana” Gail Hursey, former wife, and beloved friend.
Mr. Farrell attended Southern High School in Durham, NC. He spent the majority of his career working as a Senior Buyer in the Information Technology Field and later served as a Volunteer Cook to the Durham Rescue Mission. Since a young age, Carl was a competitive baseball and softball player, avid golfer, and dedicated Tarheel fan. He was a man of immense humor and enjoyed shagging, beach music, and singing along to gospel hymns. Most of all he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, preparing family feasts and being our “Papa”.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703. Officiating will be Reverend Hugh O’Shields. Interment will take place at South Granville Memorial Gardens, 3040 Old North Carolina 75, Stem, NC 27581. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Farrell, McKinley Godfrey, Kendall Meeks, Sr., Lonnie Crawley, Jr., Jason Farrell, and Kimberly Farrell.
Flowers will be accepted at Hudson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
