Carl Danny "Denny" Gross

Carl Danny "Denny" Gross, left us to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Danny lived his life in many different places, spanning from Asheville to Florida. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandparent, and friend. He was a strong, good-hearted man who put his faith in Christ, our Lord and Savior. He was very active in his son's lives, either by coaching them or filming every sporting event on the sidelines. He invested in their lives along with many other athletes. His house was a get-together spot for his sons and their friends; he was a good role model to them and many others. Danny was a very involved grandparent and loved his grandchildren dearly. He found his passion at an early age, and that passion was cars. He spent many nights at the Asheville Motor Speedway racing or working in the pits.

He had many jobs throughout his life and had a work ethic unmatched. He worked in a factory during the day and was a racecar driver at night. He drove a truck for many years because he truly enjoyed the challenge.

Later in life, you would find him watching an old western movies, NASCAR, or the North Carolina Tar Heels. After his wife sustained multiple strokes, you could find him at the nursing home looking after her every night. Danny courageously fought a lot of pain later in life but still managed to keep his sense of humor, cracking jokes to doctors, nurses, and family.

He was a strong-willed person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He shall be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lucille English Gross, who passed away in 2024; his mother, Robbie Gross; his father, Chester Gross; his brothers, Bobby Gross and Donny Gross; his sisters, Sandra Maitland Gross, Jackie Gierschke Gross, Barbara Jean Thomas Gross, and Betty Campbell Gross.

Left to celebrate his life are his sons, Brandon Gross and Bronson Gross, and his wife Donna ; his grandchildren, Everly, Kolbie, and Kodie; and his brother Jimmy Gross.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Fairmont Baptist Church in Candler, NC. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
