In memory of
Laura Holloway Walsh
November 7, 2008
I learned of Rev. Haley's death in the Duke Divinity magazine. My grandfather, Rev. Shannon Holloway, was a housemate of his and a member of the "chain gang" of Duke theologians who maintained a letter for many decades! I have copies of many of Rev. Haley's letters if any of his grandchildren would want to see them.
I know they are having a glorious reunion in Heaven.

I will never forget Dr. Haley. When I was sixteen he was my pastor. He and dear Margaret took me to Lake Junaluska for a conference that changed my life. They taught me many wonderful life lessons and guided me through some rough times.
I have always considered myself blessed to have had known such wonderful people.
When I think about pivotal moments and people in my life...Carl Haley is there (as well as Margaret). My thoughts, prayers and love are with the family...Susan Spain Beers

Wrenn,
I have admired and respected your Dad since first meeting him in the early 1960's. He was devoted to his Lord and to bringing comfort to the people around him. He was always mindful of the human plight and to the needs of others. His compassion, his quiet sincerity, and the openness of his outreach are an example for us all. I am glad that he and you grew with one another for many years, from child through adult. That is indeed a blessing for you both. Our thoughts are very much with you and your family.
God bless,
Allen and Barbara

Dr. Carl Haley was my second cousin. He accepted me into the Methodist Church many years ago, preached my father's funeral, participated in my wedding, and baptised my only son. He was a brilliant and devout Christian who presence graced all of us. Judge James W. Haley, Jr. Court of Appeals of Virginia.
