Carl L. Herrmann Jr.

1933 - 2025 Carl L. Herrmann Jr., 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 21, 2025, in Pasadena, CA with family at his side. Born on May 4, 1933, in San Diego, CA. Carl embarked on a life marked by dedication to every endeavor he put his mind to, most importantly, his family and his entrepreneurial pursuits.
Carl spent his childhood in Glendale, CA, where he graduated from Notre Dame High School. He proudly served two years in the Army during the Korean War.
Carl's insurance career began in 1969 by taking over ownership of Insureco Insurance Agency. With Insureco he created new insurance products and modernized insurance processing for the banking industry. His early adoption of computerized systems to manage insurance operations for auto and mortgage lenders grew to become the industry standard.
He managed Insureco to remarkable growth which caught the attention of Transamerica eventually leading to their acquisition of Insureco in 1984. Carl continued his insurance career at Transamerica Insurance making another acquisition, WNC Insurance Services. He presided over the Company as CEO. WNC continued its growth under Carl's leadership and was eventually sold. Carl ended his insurance career in 2017, focusing his full attention on managing the family investment company.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Carl dedicated himself to philanthropy as Founder and Director of the Carl and Henrietta Herrmann Charitable Foundation, impacting numerous lives through generous support and leadership.
Carl was passionate about his hobbies. As a lifelong Dodger Fan, he cherished time spent with family and friends at home games. Carl was an avid boater. Deep-sea fishing brought him great joy and numerous adventures in the Atlantic, Caribbean and, most notably, the Pacific Ocean. Carl also enjoyed traveling to amazing and exotic places around the world. He was a car lover and collector, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and engineering.
Carl is survived by his sister, Henrietta (Tinker) Herrmann, his children, Carl, Carron, Chris, and Cathy, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. His legacy is carried on through his family, who continue to honor his memory and the values he instilled in them.
Carl's life was full of resilience, leadership, and compassion. He left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
