Carl Johann Obituary

Carl "Chip" Johann, III

June 22, 1961 - December 6, 2024

MORTON - Chip Johann, 63, of Morton, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home at Apostolic Christian LifePoints in Morton.

Chip was born on June 22, 1961, in Peoria, Ill., to Joan (Rotes) and Robert Johann, Sr., and grew up in Eureka.

Chip is survived by his sisters, Peg (John) Sauder of Zionsville, Ind., Liz (Dave) Rebmann of Peoria, Laura Butler (Jared) Stein of Sanford, N.C.; and his brother, Bob (Lisa) Johann, Jr. of Washington. Chip is also survived by his aunt, Sue in Vernal, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rev. Becki Nunnally.

Chip attended and graduated from Woodmore School in Eureka. He attended Eureka Christian Church, was a faithful "band-aid" for the EHS marching band, and was a multiple gold medal winner in gymnastics at the Special Olympics, training at the Gym Corner in Washington.

Chip moved to Morton in the 1980s, making his home in various group homes affiliated with the Apostolic Christian Church. As an adult, Chip worked in Peoria at Pasqual's, Jumer's Hotel and for AMT Ambulance for many years, and attended the Morton Apostolic Christian Church.

Chip loved sports, faithfully following the Eureka Hornets, the Morton Potters and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He adored everything about Christmas, singing in church, music and he loved food, animals and his great friends and caregivers at LifePoints.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.

Chip's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at LifePoints and the Traditions Health Hospice for their amazing love and care.

Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian LifePoints in Morton or the Special Olympics, https://www.soill.org/.

Chip had a great smile and was one of the biggest Cubs fans around! My sister was a long-time resident at Timber Ridge and I also worked at Linden for a period of time. He was a great guy. May he rest in perfect peace...

I want Chips family to know how blessed we all were to have Chip as part of the AMT family. He truly was bigger than life. As a St. Louis Cardinal fan Chip and I would tease one another over Cub Cardinal ball games throughout the season. He had a great sense of humor, was quick to share laugh with you but more importantly he really was part of the AMT family. WE all loved Chip. Wishing Chips family condolences and prayers during this sad time.

Sending my deepest sympathy to the family of Chip. He has been a friend of my son, Todd for several years. Todd lives at a CILA at LifePoints also. Chip and Todd go back several years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a special guy! Thinking of you as you process through this transition. Chip has won the victory!
Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love, Sandy Schneider
