Carl Manganaro

Carl Manganaro, 92, of Longwood at Oakmont, Verona, PA , passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Anna and Raymond Manganaro. Beloved husband of the late Virginia (Ginny) Manganaro, who preceded Carl in death in 2019. Loving father of Lawrence (Larry) Manganaro (Kathleen), David Manganaro (Mary), and Nancy Mason (Jamey). Carl is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carl was also preceded in death by his brother, Peter Manganaro; sister, Charlotte Laughman; and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Manganaro. Valedictorian of his Verona High School class, Carl held chemistry degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and CMU. He attended Pitt on a full caddy scholarship. Carl had a distinguished career for forty years as a chemist and a quality control engineer at U.S. Steel and Aristech Chemicals. A lifelong musician, Carl was an accomplished trumpet player and vocalist. He enjoyed performing with the Pitt Marching Band and the Mendelsohn Choir. During his retirement years, Carl and Ginny enjoyed both domestic and international travels. Carl lived and walked his faith as an active member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and in various leadership roles. He continued his work at Longwood at Oakmont as president of the resident council and a friend to many. Friends and family will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139, and also additionally from noon until parting for church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025. A funeral service will be held for Carl at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Presbyterian Church, 2500 McCrady Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Burial will follow at the Beulah Church Cemetery.
