The sweetest man on earth, Carl M. McCormick, Jr., age 69, of Panacea, FL, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Carl is having a Holy Ghost shouting spell as he walks the streets of Glory. Carl was an over-the-road truck driver with his dad for many years, as well as working for Louisiana Pacific as a Planer Mill Operator. He was also a Heavy Equipment Operator at Tyndall Air Force Base until he retired in 2021. He loved freshwater bream fishing, camping, hunting, and his fur babies (Buck, Buster, and TT). Carl loved his family with all his heart and soul.
Carl is survived by his wife, Melinda; his children, Jason McCormick (Ann), Kelly McQuagge (Patrick), and two bonus sons, Jacob Gray (Amber) and Jonathan Gray (Jenna); his sisters Diane Chason and husband Terry, and Carol Cooper; the mother of his children, Renee Perez. Carl has 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Carl had a big family with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of children that he took to Sunday School.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Marion McCormick Sr.; mother, Carolyn Griner; sister, Judy McCray; as well as many other family members, and his beloved fur angel, Roxy.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. B.B. Barwick of Panacea Full Gospel Assembly officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bayou George Cemetery.
