Carl Mullins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 16, 2026.
Carl Thomas "Tom" Mullins, lovingly known by many as "Butch," was born on August 7, 1941, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to Thomas Smith Mullins and Christelle (Horn) Mullins. He passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026.

Tom was the beloved husband of Regina for 63 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories. He was a devoted and loving father to Susan (Tim) Hans, Lauri (Mark) Sheldon, and Richard (Lori) Mullins.

Tom was a proud and devoted grandfather to Cassandra (Judson), Joshua (Blair), Hunter (Jordan), Tyson, Samuel, Jackson, and Claudia, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kalyla, Julian, and Macrae. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his growing family and celebrating their accomplishments.

He was the dear brother of Victoria (Thomas) Prock and Denise (the late Dan) VanHoorelbeke, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. Tom also treasured his lifelong friendship with Bill and Trudy Dean, with whom he and Regina shared many memorable vacations and road trips over the years.

Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy and Sidney Carol, and his brother, Gerald Mullins.

Tom lived a life grounded in deep and abiding faith. He faithfully brought his children to church each week-often welcoming neighborhood kids who wanted to come along-and led by quiet example. Through his actions, he instilled in his family the values of faith, kindness, and community. Tom passed from this life with the comfort and confidence of his belief that he would one day see his loved ones again.

Tom lived a life defined by determination, athletic excellence, and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and community. From an early age, he was a gifted athlete, known for his strength and natural ability. He excelled in multiple sports and earned the admiration of teammates and competitors alike.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Tom rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game, talk sports with friends, or cheer on his favorite teams. He also had a deep love for food and the simple pleasure of gathering around the table with family and friends.

A true jokester at heart, Tom loved making people laugh and was always ready with a joke, a playful comment, or a story that could bring smiles to everyone around him. Whether watching a game, sharing a meal, or telling stories that filled the room with laughter, Tom had a special way of bringing people together.

Those who knew Tom will remember his kind heart, his easygoing nature, and the joy he found in spending time with the people he loved most. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many memories they shared.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Though he is no longer with us, the love, laughter, and faith he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come.

Funeral service for Tom will be held on Saturday (March 28th) at Shelby Bible Church 47905 Hayes Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48315. He will lie instate at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
