Randy passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Elese Nelson; and brother, Jimmy Nelson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darline Jones Nelson; sons, Jason Nelson, Nick (Kesha) Nelson, David (Daphne) Humphrey, Jeremy (Tru) Humphrey, and Dale (Kim) Humphrey; grandchildren, AJay, Abby, Landyn, Jordyn, Kensleigh, Mallorie, Rylan, Addyson, Raven, Christian, Michael, and Tammy; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kayden, Cai, Camden, and Ellie; sister, Kathy (Barry) Adams; brother, Danny (Edwina) Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nelson was a member of Life Church Huntsville. He graduated from Boaz High School. He was a Journeyman Melter by trade and retired from sales leader with Southern Precision and Birmingham Alloys. Randy was a train engineer at Noccalula Falls for 9 years. He was often recognized in the community for his friendly service at The Falls. Randy was a man of faith with a true redemption story that he loved to share with everyone. Randy loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. His love for his wife, Darline was the epitome of a true love story. He loved Alabama football and golf; Randy will be so deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be Rylan Humphrey, Logan Gregory, Jeremy Humphrey, Dale Humphrey, Blake Yocum, and Tim Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Church Huntsville Missions.

This was Randy's last day at the Falls and starting his retirement. Randy was a good man that loved the Lord. A good friend and co-worker. Randy will be missed.

We loved Randy. He was so loving and caring, and made everyone feel special. He loved his God and family. When he was at Bible study, he was always excited and eager to learn. Darlene and her family have been part of our family since the boys were young, and when she met Randy, he blended in perfectly. We will miss our friend and brother in Christ. We offer our condolences and sympathy to the Nelson family.
