Carl Norris Obituary
Carl received his early childhood education from School Number 20, Wilmington, Delaware, and later graduated from Howard High School. He continued his education at Delaware Technical Community College. Carl was drafted into the United States Army in 1964. While in the Army he received a Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Carl was honorably discharged in January 1966. He was employed by General Motors, University of Delaware and the City of Wilmington's Water Department as a Heavy Equipment Machinist, retiring after 30 plus years of service and many accolades.
Carl was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized on June 23, 2007. He loved to travel and reminiscing about old times. Carl loved his family and as such was one of the Norris/Smith/Wilson family's historians. He enjoyed the better things in life and did not mind working for them. He also enjoyed sports and was a seafood lover, especially blue crabs.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Charles Norris, brother Warren Smith, sister-in-law Jean Smith, brother Harold Norris, sister in-law Joyce Norris, stepchildren Yvette (Katy) Cuff, and Cheryl (Pie) Gordon.
Carl is survived by his birth child, daughter Sandra Carter, brother Charles Norris, sisters Ruth Norris Townsend and Gloria Norris Brock, grandchildren James C. Carter, Quadeer L. Brown, Veronica Lynn Harrigan, Larry Cuff, II, Steven Cuff and great-grands Jinnah and James Carter, Jr. as well as 9 additional great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of loving relatives and friends.
