Carl R. Petty

Carl Roger Petty was born May 1, 1942. He departed this life February 23, 20206. He was the second of four boys born to Ben and Irma Petty. The two oldest were born in New Orleans , the younger sons, Ronald and Ray were born in Oakland, CA.

Carl attended schools in Oakland including McClymons High School and Oakland City College. He served in the US Army and was discharged in 1966. He then worked at The Oakland Army Base. He bought his own truck, maintained and self operated locally including the Oakland Piers.

As a child he attended The New Hope Baptist church in Oakland and in his late teens with his mother, he attended the Th Church of Christian Science and later St. Andrews Catholic Church in Oakland.

Carl leaves behind his wife Shirley and family and friends.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 12 PM at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Drive, Richmond, CA.
