Carl was truly a man of God. He gave me the foundation to build my life on solid ground. I remember he put new words to one of John Denver's tunes, follow me and made it a praise song. I thank the Lord Carl was my youth pastor during those formative years. He showed me how to love Jesus and serve him. It is our loss but heaven has gained a faithful servant. Thank you Carl for who you were and what you did to show us Jesus. We will miss you, until we meet again.

Carl Pfeil

Carl was my Youth Pastor and mentor for more than 10 years. He allowed each of us in the Highlands Community Church Youth Group to learn by teaching one another. He created programs and led adventures that enabled me to introduce many friends and acquaintances to Jesus. His greatest words of wisdom were, "Youth are not the church of tomorrow. They are a vital part of today's church." He also taught me to play guitar, which moved me past playing notes as they were written on a page and opened my eyes to the world of music theory. Most of all, he was a friend. I have not seen Carl in years, but knowing he has gone to be with Jesus makes me miss him more.

I am praying that everyone who is also missing Carl, especially his family, will feel the kind of comfort that only Jesus can give.

I got serious about serving God in Nov of 1972, and saw how thoroughly adequate the Word was to transform human souls because of teachers like Carl Pfeil. I appreciated his love for folk music and the simple, down-to-earth folk featured in the songs. That was the first acoustic music that accompanied my new faith in Christ, and there was a lot of it that I carried into my college years and beyond. Carl lives forever because he let Christ do with him what He promised from the start.

Carl touched my life in so many ways, he was my friend my teacher and a great leader to so many young lives. I will miss him but he gave me a life time of memories. When my happy day came Carl gave Bill and I his blessings and his wisdom . I will always have the memories of our time on the road with the Joyful Noise and his wonderful French toast. Carl is now happy with his teacher and so many good friends. My prayers are with his family. Janet (Sledge) Schaefer

I was six years old when my family moved to Renton and began to attend Highland Community Church. Not long after Carl returned from Illinois to be the youth pastor. Carl had a huge impact on my whole family as he was youth pastor when my brother was a teen, began regular Bible teaching messages on Sunday evenings by the time I was a teen and later in my parents retirement Little Rock Community Fellowship became their church home. I feel so blessed to have learned God's word at the feet of this man for so many years.

I can't even begin to tell all he taught me as Youth Leader at Highlands Community Church. He also gave me one of the most memorable experiences of my life when he organized Tell It Out Teens. Carl was a wonderful teacher, a talented musician, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a great pastor. I've always remembered him with fondness and respect. I'm so grateful to have known him and to have learned from him.

I was in his youth group at Highlands community church and graduated in 1978. Carl was a great mentor. I remember sitting with other youth listening to the christian album love song that carl introduced us to on Sunday after koinonia.
