Funeral service for Carl Lewis “Dumpy” Potter, age 60 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March1, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Paul Pogue officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel with Jimmy Cope, Warren Gore, Perrie Wadley, Kevin Bilharz, Roper Elmore and Harlan Haynesworth serving as pallbearers and Gonzo Bridges, James Winkle, Lendale Robinson, David Poole, James Sonnen, Rooster Wesson, Darrell Leewright, Big Earl, John Elmore, Jimmy Marshal, Bobby White, Mark Baker, Squirrel and Benji Brown serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Potter passed away on February 27, 2023 at his residence.
Carl was born on July 28, 1962 in McKinney, Texas to Bennie and Barbara (Lindley) Potter. He was the owner and operator of Appliance and Furniture Store. Carl was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Potter; daughter, Christa Elmore and husband, John; Son, Bennie Potter; grandchildren, Roper Elmore and Paikas Elmore; nieces and nephews, Shawn Potter and wife, Kim, Jamie Potter and wife, Leslie, Jeremy Potter and wife, Tiffany, Cody Potter and Carolyn Lane and husband, Landon; special family friends, Shannon White, Shari Copeland and Rhonda Roberts; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his father; brother, Thurman Potter; sisters, Carolyn Potter and Debbie Potter and his grandparents.
