It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carl “Scudder” Shillcutt announces that their beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to his Heavenly eternal resting place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 88. Carl was born on June 27, 1937, to Roland and Irene Shillcutt and was an only child. Most of his childhood was spent in North Little Rock and he was a graduate of North Little Rock High School.
Carl proudly served in the Arkansas Air National Guard, worked at Chicopee in North Little Rock then had a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad, from which he retired. He was known for his hard work ethic, dry sense of humor, his love of golf and his compassion for animals.
He is survived by his children: Chris Shillcutt (Collette), Cindy Hardy (Freddie), Cary Shillcutt (Angela), and Chana Zakrzewski (Michael). He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Superior Health and Rehab in Conway, Arkansas and Arkansas Hospice for the loving care provided over the recent years.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. For those interested in honoring his memory, the family suggests donations to the American Humane Society or the Friend to Friend Network, a nonprofit run by Union Pacific employee-volunteers and retirees.
