Carl Jacob Shively

1937 - 2025

Carl Jacob Shively, 88, West Lafayette, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 18, 2025.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1937, in Marshall County. Carl married to his lovely wife, Sonja Kay Frances Westphal on Sept. 30, 1962; they were blessed with 63 years of marriage. They have three children, Jani Darlene Shively, Loyetta Kay (Shively) Gitter, and Troy Durand Shively.

Carl was the Fertilizer Plant Manager and Fertilizer Sales for Chester's Inc. for over 35 years. He was known for his hard work, honesty, and integrity. Anyone who worked with Carl knew how very physically strong he was and when he gave his word it could be trusted without question.

Carl enjoyed horses, cattle, loved being outside, reading and hearing Gods word, gospel music, was a member of Eastside Assembly of God for many years. He loved his Lord.

In our loving memory, Carl is cherished by his beloved wife, Sonja Kay Frances (Westphal) Shively; children, Jani Darlene Shively, Loyetta Kay (Shively) and husband Joe Gitter, and Troy Durand and wife Carol Ann Shively; he has been so blessed with five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren who he so enjoyed. Carl has one brother Clarence and his wife Sharri Shively who live in Plymouth.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Orville M. Shively and Louise Mattie Huge Shively and two sisters, Helen, and Faye.

A ceremony to celebrate Carl's life will be held on Jan. 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Eastside Assembly of God Church, 6121 East 50 South, Lafayette – 765-447-5687.
