Carl L. Stewart Jr.

Carl Lee Stewart, Jr., the youngest of four siblings was born December 15, 1956, in Mandeville, Arkansas to Carl Lee Stewart, Sr. and Pagerine Stewart. At an early age, he united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, and later joined Mt. Gillard Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas. He served in numerous capacities, such as trustee, deacon, and former Sunday School superintendent, and was a member of the male chorus.
He graduated from Arkansas High School in 1974 and later joined the United States Air Force in August 1974. He furthered his studies at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. He united in marriage to Jackie Williams and to this union, two sons were born. Carl served as a juvenile probation officer for over twenty years and later became Chief Bailiff with the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office until his death. He was a referee, notary public, process server, and "Sho Nuff" comedian.
He passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Saline Memorial Hospital. Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of five years Monica Utsey Stewart; his sons, Brandon Stewart and Andre Stewart of Texarkana, AR; his stepchildren, Latashia Utsey, Brittney Utsey, Darius Hawkins, Marsheeka Utsey, Sharika Utsey, and Jasmine Hawkins all of Camden, AR; two sisters, Vera Mae (Howard) Austin of Prescott, AR and Juanita Stewart of Texarkana, AR; a brother, Rubin Darnell Stewart of Inglewood, CA; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Greater New Calvary COGIC, Elder Connell Muse pastor, and Rev. Anthony Thomas, pastor of Mt. Gillard Baptist Church, eulogist. Interment at Cleveland Cemetery in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Active pallbearers will be Jeffery Utsey, Darryl Utsey, Richard Utsey, Darius Hawkins, Columbus Halton, Brian Jackson, and Renoldo Courtney. Honorary pallbearers will be Mt. Gillard Male Chorus and the Ouachita County Sherriff Department.
