Carl was born in Stockholm, New York, on October 16, 1936. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Carl worked at Fisher Body/General Motors in Marion for 39 years. He was a devoted member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church in Marion and Brooksville Wesleyan Church.
Carl was married to his beloved wife, Kaye Stopp, for 38 years until her passing. He later shared three wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Ellen-Louise Frost. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply, including his wife, Ellen-Louise Frost of Brooksville; children, Tim (Sheila) Stopp of Vernon, CT, Christina "Tina" Perez of Tampa, FL, Tony (Briana) Stopp of Canton, GA, and Todd (Julie) Stopp of Fishers, IN; step-children, Gary (Ellie) Frost of Orlando, FL, and Tina Frost of New Smyrna Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his first wife of 38 years, Kaye Stopp, Carl was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Teresa Lynn Philson.
Carl loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great joy in family gatherings. He was known for his quick wit and his ability to tell a good joke, but also for his readiness to share a prayer or a favorite Scripture whenever the moment called for it. If asked his favorite verse, Carl would always say Proverbs 3:5-6.
