CARL WILLIAM TUCKER, age 83, of Washington Court House, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe. Born August 12, 1942, in Licking County, he was the son of the late Charles K. And Dorothy L. Buckingham Tucker.
Carl grew up and lived in Fayette County most of his life. He attended school in Washington Court House. In 1961 he joined the Army National Guard, Infantry Division and trained mostly at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
He worked several jobs throughout his lifetime including traveling the U.S. as a Repo-Man for ice cream trucks, worked construction in Fayette County and surrounding areas, fixed computers for the locals as a hobby, and he was a Maintenance Man at Deer Creek State Park.
In his younger years, Carl was known for getting a little wild and crazy. His sister Bonnie would say: "He loves cars, fishing, women, beer and gambling". Carl especially had a love for classic muscle cars. He owned several throughout his lifetime. Carl enjoyed fishing and spending time with his nephew Michael & Sandi Deweese, of Fort Myers, Florida.
His friends called him "Tucker" and knew that most days they could find him at the local VFW Post 3762 in Washington Court House where he was an honorary member. He loved spending time with everyone there and considered them as his "second family". When he wasn't at the VFW, he was usually visiting with his longtime childhood friends Donnie (Linda) Stritenberger and Karen Jones, plus host of other friends and his neighbors at Village Court.
If you're up for a little history tour, you can find Carl's picture with Hopalong Cassidy's featured at the local Fayette County Museum. Being a bit of a jokester and a little "wild in nature", we are hoping that's the only place his picture is displayed.
During his one year stay in Indiana, Carl became an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 9395 in Loogootee. He loved playing in the Thursday night pool tournament. He was known to be quite the "pool shark" in his younger years. Carl also loved going to Sunday night bingo with his daughter and Tuesday night bar Bingo. He was often heard shouting "BINGO" and considered to be one of the luckiest weekly bingo players that attended. He attributed his lucky streak to having a blue dauber. When he wasn't playing pool or bingo, he enjoyed spending time with family, teasing his grandchildren, a daily ride to Dairy Queen, watching the locals at the lake (Oh the stories he could tell), and sitting on the back porch with the family cats, Milo and Spades, that he loved to spoil.
In his last few days on earth, Carl made his peace with God and is resting in Heaven.
Survivors include his daughter Billie Jo (Nathan) Green of Indiana, his sister Bonnie L. Newsom of Fort Myers, FL along with eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter Shelby Lynn Kiphart, his sister Ruth Ann Smith and his brothers Robert E. And Charles K. Tucker, Jr.
Friends and family are invited to attend:
A celebration of life service is being held by the family at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the Bible Baptist Temple, 4361 State Route 41, Washington C.H., Ohio.
