Carl E. White Sr.

1937 - 2026

Carl E. White Sr., 88, of Derry Township, died on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. He was born on Nov. 24, 1937, in Claridge, a son of the late Milton S. and Rebecca A. (Cole) White. Prior to retirement, Carl was a lineman for Allegheny Power. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry. Carl loved hunting and fishing. He coached Derry Little League and installed the original lights at the Derry Little League field, coached Derry JR Wrestling, and coached and was a past president of Derry Midget Football. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. (Posavetz) White, in 2016; two sons, Joseph M. White and Carl E. White Jr.; three brothers, Robert, Eugene, and Charles White; and four sisters, Freda Ottenberg, Doris Booher, Marjorie Master, and Nancy Arsenault. Carl is survived by his three sons, Samuel R. White of Loyalhanna, James M. White and wife, Denise, of Derry Township, and Timothy J. White of Latrobe; two sisters, Mildred R. Praksti and Betty Firmstone and Bill; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family will receive friends for Carl's life celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at MATTHEW X. MERLIN FUNERAL HOME INC., 529 N. Chestnut St., Derry, PA, 724-694-8331. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Salvatore R. Lamendola. Interment will follow in St. Martin Cemetery.
