Carla McCracken Sork

Carla McCracken Sork, 81, of Alpena passed from the land of the dying to the land of the living on September 18, 2022.
Carla was born December 29, 1940, in Grampian, PA to Ernest and Mary (Pentz) McCracken. She moved to Anderson, IN to attend Anderson College. She met and married Guy Sork November 25, 1960, and together they had three children. Her entire working career was in the medical field, starting with the Middletown, IN EMT Services. She also worked as a surgery Technologist at Henry County Memorial Hospital. In 1986, at the age of 45, Carla earned her Nursing degree at Anderson University. For the next 30 years, she worked at the Community Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She retired as a Psychiatric (or possible psychotic) Nurse Supervisor. After retirement she moved to Bradenton, FL and then in April 2022, to Alpena, MI.
Carla is survived by her son Grant Sork of Alpena, her daughter, Amy Sork of Bradenton, FL, 4 grandchildren, Annah Sork of Grand Blanc, Ellen (Greg) Loubachen of Grand Rapids, Emma (Mark) Domke of Muskegon, Brittany (Dan) Bourne of Huntington, IN, and 2 great-grandchildren, Maverick and Oliver Bourne. She was preceded in death by both parents, her son, Guy Joe Sork II, 3 sisters, Eve, Esther, and Nancy, 2 brothers, Dave and Chuck, her dear friend, Guy Joe Sork, and son in-law, Thomas Law.
A family directed memorial service will be held at Tri-Point Church of God in Alpena, MI on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Tri-Point Church of God. Carla will be inurned at Lumber City Cemetery in Pennsylvania with her family. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
